3RD ANNUAL JOURNEY TO WELLNESS MEETING 2012
THIRD ANNUAL JOURNEY TO WELLNESS MEETING (JTW3) RECAP
The third annual JTW meeting was held January 25, 2012 at Lane Community College with a great turn-out. Each year the participation has grown. A HUGE thank you to all that came and participated! The purpose of this meeting is to bring grantees together to share stories, tools and challenges. Many groups brought their teams. Joan Kapowich, Administrator for PEBB and OEBB kicked off the meeting with a presentation on “Getting to Zero: Health Promotion as an Economic Strategy”. After Joan’s presentation, each group received the book Zero Trends by Dee Edington, PhD, Health Management Research Center, University of Michigan. Rod Hart, Director of ODS Health Healthcare Services and Karis Stoudamire-Phillips, Supervisor of ODS Health Wellness and Community Relations lead the participants through a wellness & engagement tool – “Walk the Talk”, and had groups work on making posters to create their school’s wellness map. Laura Pavlat led a discussion on how Google docs has helped make Springfield’s wellness program more manageable. Pilot grantee groups (Lane CC, Santiam Canyon, Cascade, and Medford) shared their journeys and almost everyone prepared success stories. A full day.
We have posted some information from the meeting:
- A presentation on: “Getting to Zero Health Cost Trends: Health Promotion as an Economic Strategy” by Joan M. Kapowich, R.N., Administrator, Oregon Educators Benefit Board
- Success Stories from Grantees
- Moda Health “Walking the Talk”
- Using Google Docs as a Wellness Tool – Laura Pavlat, Springfield SD
Many evaluation comments indicated that sharing ideas and hearing what others are doing were activities liked most about these meetings.
